Troy E. Daniels - Founder
Troy Daniels has over 17 years of success in health insurance, agency management and employee benefits. He founded DBS in 2003 as an employee benefits brokerage serving the Denver metro area. In this short time, DBS has established itself as a strong player in the employee benefits market in Denver with significant market penetration, income and name recognition.
A well-rounded scope of experience in the employee benefits arena is one of the reasons for Troy’s success as an insurance professional. Not only has he managed two brokerages, but also has experience as a home office underwriter and a company sales representative. His greatest skill in business is his marketing prowess and his vision.
Troy holds a Bachelor of Science in Business with a double emphasis on Accounting and Finance from the University of Colorado and continues to pursue education in the fields of Insurance, Investments and Real Estate. He also holds a NASD Series 6 license. In addition he has received numerous awards, bonuses and trips for outstanding sales performance.
Greg Daniels - Insurance Benefits Manager
Greg Daniels has more than 12 years of excellence in Medicare programs, health insurance, and employee benefits. Greg has been an integral part of DBS since its inception. Through his role as DBS’s Insurance Benefits Manager, Greg has consulted companies in varied industries keeping him knowledgeable regarding industry trends towards employee benefits. He manages DBS’s team of independent agents including all hiring and training of all new agents and employees within DBS.
Prior to becoming a health insurance broker, Greg began his career working with large health plans in the area of Medicare solutions. During this time, Greg developed the skill of helping clients choose the right health plan.
Greg holds a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Business and Music Performance from the University of Colorado and continues to pursue education in the fields of Insurance, Investments and Real Estate.
Robert Johnson, EA, ASA - Financial Services Manager
Robert Johnson leads DBS’s Employee Benefits & Estate Planning services and is the President of DBS's sister company, Rocky Mountain Pension Consultants. Rob has more than 30 years experience in employee benefits, including plan design, communications, actuarial valuations, asset/liability modeling, investment performance reviews and all aspects of plan reporting and compliance. Rob has professional certifications regarding his pension expertise from the IRS, Dept. of Labor (DOL) and the Society of Actuaries.
Rob’s role as a benefits consultant is to provide our clients with expertise that proactively solves problems rather than defending corrective actions that are required often when procedures are not established or administered properly. Today, a primary concern for many Retirement Plan Sponsors involves establishing investment fiduciary guidelines that reduce their personal fiduciary liability.
Rob’s prior experience includes 30 years of activities which involve every aspect of maintaining a defined contribution retirement plan, including:
- 2 years designing and developing procedures and software for administering asset allocation funds for the 401(a), 401(k), 403(b) and 457(b) markets asset allocation training from Ibbotson & Associates
- 2 years as national marketing and technical support for clients and retirement sales representatives for defined contribution plans and providing investment performance reviews
- 2 years with a law firm amending and restating plan documents, providing non-standard testing for 401(k) plans and negotiating with the DOL and IRS regarding compliance & reporting problems
- 2 years managing a defined contribution sales office responsible for enrollment and communication of retirement programs in 6 states
- 1 year as manager of underwriting (pricing) for plan administration, communication, record keeping, compliance and reporting
- 13 years working as a plan actuary and consultant for defined benefit and defined contribution plans
- 4 years in IT as a programmer, business analyst, systems analyst and project manager for plan administration, testing and record keeping for defined contribution retirement plans
- 4 years as a benefits broker for benefit plans including retirement, health, dental, vision and life insurance.
Rob is a certified Enrolled Actuary as well as an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and has earned his Series 6, Series 26 and Series 63 licenses.
